Chevrolet Silverado 2027: Crew Cab and Regular Cab take different antenna paths

Spy shots show 2027 Silverado Crew Cab with a big new roof spoiler likely hiding GM's Connectivity Hub Module, while Regular Cab keeps the classic shark fin.
Chevrolet is preparing the 2027 Silverado for a generational change, and the updates go beyond design, powertrains and interior. Fresh prototype shots reveal an interesting detail: different versions of the truck will use different solutions for antennas and connectivity hardware.
The Silverado Crew Cab shows up with a noticeably larger rear roof spoiler than today's model. It runs along the rear edge of the cab and, going by patent drawings and spy photos, looks like more than just an aerodynamic element. Chevrolet is likely integrating part of the antenna and communication hardware into it, clearing the roof of standalone protrusions.
The approach makes sense. A modern pickup is no longer just radio and navigation. It needs cellular modems, telematics, online services, over-the-air updates, driver-assistance systems and integration into the vehicle's wider ecosystem. The more functions, the harder it gets to package every antenna cleanly and without visual clutter on the roof. But the Regular Cab, judging by work-truck prototypes, is going a different way.
On those trucks, the familiar roof-mounted shark fin antenna is still clearly visible. That likely means Chevrolet will split solutions by cab style, trim or price point. For basic work pickups, the simple, proven setup is probably cheaper and more practical than an integrated module inside the spoiler.
Extra intrigue comes from the new Connectivity Hub Module that General Motors is developing. The unit combines cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy, Ultra-Wideband and GNSS navigation into a single roof-mounted block — essentially everything that used to require a separate roof antenna and a separate telematics control unit inside the cabin. Whether the 2027 Silverado Crew Cab gets this exact module is still unconfirmed, but the oversized roof spoiler fits the concept perfectly.
The Double Cab remains an open question. No 2027 Silverado prototypes in that configuration have surfaced yet, so it's unclear whether it will adopt the large integrated spoiler like the Crew Cab, keep a conventional antenna like the Regular Cab, or land somewhere in between.
At first glance, an antenna difference sounds like a minor footnote. But for the next-generation Silverado it signals a deeper shift. The pickup is becoming not just a work tool and a tow rig, but a connected device on wheels. And now even the shape of the rear edge of the roof can hint at how much tech is hidden inside.
According to 32CARS.RU, GM has been addressing potential cabin leaks on the Chevrolet Silverado 2026.
