BMW iX3 drives 1,007 km on one charge, debuting Neue Klasse
BMW's iX3, first Neue Klasse model, covers 1,007 km on one charge. Explore 800-V tech, up to 400 kW charging, WLTP 800 km range, pricing for Europe and the US.
BMW is making a serious bid for EV leadership: the new iX3 managed to travel more than a thousand kilometers without a single charge. It is the first production model on the Neue Klasse architecture, opening a new chapter for the brand and intended to set a benchmark for the entire electric-car market.
The crossover set off from the plant in Győr and covered 1007.7 kilometers to Munich, finishing with a small amount of charge left. To squeeze out maximum efficiency, the BMW team stayed off high-speed motorways and, after Vienna, switched off the climate control and multimedia to minimize consumption. That turns the drive into an efficiency run rather than a typical road trip, yet it clearly shows what the hardware can do when every watt is put to work.
Although the iX3 officially promises up to 800 kilometers under the WLTP cycle, the experiment suggested that real-world range can stretch much further under the right conditions. For Europe, the model is announced as the iX3 50 xDrive with a starting price of 68,900 euros, and in the United States sales will begin in 2026 at roughly $60,000. Thanks to its 800-volt system, the EV can charge at up to 400 kW, placing it among the strongest contenders of the near future.
The Gen6 platform, a new battery, and optimized aerodynamics position this crossover as a significant player in the EV segment. Against the Russian backdrop, where electric cars still occupy a niche, these figures underline which car comes out ahead on long-distance capability.
