Citroen is giving the German EV subsidy program a boost by effectively matching the state incentive for buyers. That could bring the price of a new Citroen e-C3 down to nearly 8,000 euros for customers who qualify for the full payout.
The offer applies to the e-C3 Urban Range in You trim. Its standard price is 19,900 euros. The car packs a 30-kWh battery, good for about 200 km of range, and an 83-kW (113-hp) electric motor.
Germany's state subsidy covers private buyers who purchase or lease a new EV, plug-in hybrid, or range-extender. The maximum incentive is 6,000 euros and applies retroactively to vehicles first registered from January 1, 2026. Citroen chips in the same amount, so total savings can hit up to 12,000 euros.
This is specific to the German market and its local subsidy, but the story is telling. Even an affordable EV needs a push to go mainstream. The big question now is how long these prices will hold and how many buyers will actually get the full discount.
