Cupra Confirms Production of Tindaya Electric SUV
Cupra has confirmed plans to put its Tindaya concept into production. The new flagship electric SUV will compete with BMW iX3 and Volvo EX60. Expected around £60,000.
Cupra has confirmed plans to put its Tindaya concept into production. The model, first shown in Munich, will become the brand's new flagship SUV. Seat-Cupra CEO Markus Haupt told Autocar that designers and engineers are already working on the car, and it should hit the streets within a few years.
The Tindaya will slot above the Tavascan and Formentor in the lineup. At 4.72 meters long, the concept was sized to compete with the BMW iX3, Volvo EX60, Genesis GV70, Lexus RZ, and electric versions of the Audi Q5, BMW X3, and Mercedes GLC. Pricing is expected to start around £60,000.
Underpinning the production Tindaya will be the Volkswagen Group's new SSP platform, though the powertrain has yet to be finalized. The concept featured a 489-hp system with a range extender, but the production model may skip that setup. Cupra is keeping its options open, planning to decide on motors closer to launch based on regional demand.
