Singer Reveals Engine Specs for Porsche 911 Type 964 Restoration singervehicledesign.com

Singer has shared engine specs for its Porsche 911 Type 964 restoration. The 4.0-liter flat-six, co-developed with Cosworth, produces 420 hp and revs past 8,000 rpm. Only 175 units will be built.

Singer has released engine specs for its restoration and customization program of the Porsche 911 Carrera Type 964. The company plans to build 175 examples: 100 coupes and 75 convertibles. All coupes are spoken for, but a few convertible slots remain open.

The heart of the build is a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six developed with help from Cosworth. It uses low-friction internals, machined intake and exhaust ports, precision combustion chamber work, and — a first for Singer — variable valve timing. Output is rated at 420 horsepower, and the engine revs past 8,000 rpm.

The engine combines water-cooled cylinder heads with air-cooled cylinders. It pairs with a modified six-speed manual gearbox, and customers can opt for a raised shifter with an exposed linkage. A new titanium exhaust system handles the spent gases.

Singer doesn't start from scratch. Each customer supplies their own 911 Type 964, which is then disassembled, inspected, reinforced, and rebuilt to Singer's specifications. No two cars will be identical — every configuration is tailored to its owner.
