Discover the new Mercedes-Benz GLB debuting Dec 8: EV variants with 58/85 kWh batteries, up to 600 km range and 156–211 hp mild-hybrids in 5- or 7-seat layouts.

Mercedes-Benz is wrapping up preparations for the new-generation GLB, set to be unveiled on December 8. The model will take the place of both the current GLB and the electric EQB, as the range splits into mild-hybrid versions and EV variants built around EQ technology. Test shots show a refreshed look that keeps the familiar stance while softening the surfaces to boost aerodynamic efficiency—streamlining that should help without diluting the GLB’s character.

A standout tweak is the new taillight arrangement, dropped lower along the sides—an approach the brand hasn’t used on its other models. The platform strategy ties the GLB to the new CLA, so electric versions with 58 kWh and 85 kWh batteries are expected. The electric CLA claims 777 km on a charge; for the GLB, projections point to up to about 600 km in higher-spec versions. For a family SUV, that kind of range would land well with real-world use in mind.

Mild-hybrid options are also on the way with outputs of 156, 184, and 211 hp. As before, the GLB will offer five- and seven-seat configurations. With the sharper design and a broadened powertrain lineup, it’s already shaping up as one of the season’s most anticipated auto-show premieres—an approach that should make choosing between efficiency and electric range refreshingly straightforward.
