Citroën e-C3 EV Launches in Japan: 388 km Range from $25k
The Citroën e-C3 electric car is now on sale in Japan, offering 388 km range, fast charging, and a starting price of $25,334. Subsidies can reduce cost further.
Stellantis Japan has launched the electric Citroën e-C3. This EV version of the new C3 packs a compact body, a claimed range of 388 km, and a starting price of 3,999,000 yen (around $25,334).
Two trims are available. The base Plus is priced at 3,999,000 yen, while the range-topping Max costs 4,250,000 yen (approximately $26,924). That pricing is significant for Japan—it puts the e-C3 in a segment where an EV can be compared not just to other electric cars, but also to conventional compact models.

Under the hood, there's no race for records. The electric motor produces 83 kW (113 hp), and the claimed range is 388 km. CHAdeMO fast charging supports up to 100 kW, allowing a 20-to-80 percent top-up in roughly 26 minutes. For daily drivers, that means a week of city commuting with just a short charge stop on longer trips.
The e-C3 rides on the same multi-energy platform as the hybrid C3. Comfort is front and center: Progressive Hydraulic Cushions suspension and Advanced Comfort seats come standard. Safety gear includes active emergency braking, lane keeping assist, and driver attention monitoring.

Subsidies are a major perk. The e-C3 qualifies for the CEV program, and in Tokyo, buyers can receive up to 940,000 yen ($5,955) from national and local governments. With that discount, the electric C3 shifts from a niche toy to a rational urban purchase.
The Max trim adds a two-tone roof. Four colors are offered: Blue Monte Carlo, Bright Blue, Rouge Elixir, and Blanc Banquise. Small colored body accents retain that French flair, but the car's real appeal isn't its décor.
The Citroën e-C3 doesn't try to be the fastest or most tech-laden EV. Its recipe is simpler: decent range, fast charging, a comfortable suspension, and a price that subsidies make a lot less intimidating.
