Explore 2025's standout cars as picked by Autoevolution: Porsche 911 Turbo S hybrid, Corvette ZR1X, Renault Twingo E-Tech, plus pickups and long-range hybrids.
2025 turned into a rough year for carmakers: new U.S. tariffs, waning appetite for EVs, and pressure on pricing. Yet amid the shake-up, plenty of standout models shaped the market’s look and feel. Experts at Autoevolution singled out the year’s most compelling machines, from headline-grabbing hypercars to no-nonsense city EVs.
Among the frontrunners is the updated Porsche 911 Turbo S, now with a hybrid module and even faster, sprinting to 97 km/h in 2.4 seconds. On the other side sits the Morgan Supersport, a modern reading of classic motoring with a lightweight build and a distinctly old-school character.
The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X became one of the year’s major breakthroughs: a 1,250-hp hybrid system puts it firmly in hypercar territory. Aston Martin’s Vanquish Volante stayed faithful to a V12, a reminder that big engines remain very much alive.

Among high-volume models, the Renault Twingo E-Tech stood out: a compact electric car with retro flair and a price below 20,000 euros. The Jeep Grand Wagoneer surprised with a long-distance-minded hybrid offering a range of more than 800 km, while the new-generation Toyota Hilux showed that a work pickup can evolve, too.
The return of a V8 in the Ram 1500 didn’t go unnoticed, and the striking Ford Ranger Super Duty kept blurring the line between midsize and full-size pickups.
2025 was a year of contrasts, but the best models proved that the industry still knows how to astonish—with power, design, and technology.
