Next-Generation Chevrolet Camaro to Become a Four-Door Model

The next-gen Chevy Camaro reportedly becomes a four-door, midsize car for more passenger space. It uses the CT5's platform to improve rear legroom.

The next-generation Chevrolet Camaro is reportedly set to grow significantly and become more practical. International sources suggest the future Camaro will drop the traditional two-door coupe and convertible designs for a four-door, mid-size layout. Despite this shift, the car is expected to keep its rear-wheel-drive setup and sporty character.

The new Camaro will reportedly ride on the updated GM Alpha 2-2 platform, which will also underpin the upcoming Cadillac CT5. That shared architecture should translate into more second-row passenger space—a major weak point of the outgoing sixth-gen model, which drew criticism for its tight rear seat and small windows.

A look at the numbers makes the shift clear. The Cadillac CT5 rides on a 116-inch wheelbase (2946 mm), whereas the 2024 Camaro measures 110.7 inches (2812 mm). The CT5 stretches 193.8 inches (4923 mm) in length, against the Camaro’s 188.3 inches (4783 mm). It's also taller: 1453 mm versus 1349 mm.

Up front, the differences are less dramatic. The CT5 offers slightly more headroom and shoulder room, but the current Camaro actually edges ahead in front legroom and hip width. The real advantage comes in the second row: the Cadillac provides substantially more legroom, headroom, and shoulder space.
