German tuner AC Schnitzer releases final upgrade for BMW M5 sedan and Touring, boosting hybrid V8 to 810 hp and 1100 Nm. Suspension, exhaust, and aero kits available. Learn about pricing and components.

German tuning house AC Schnitzer, long known for its work with BMW, has unveiled an upgrade package for the new BMW M5. The project covers both the G90 sedan and the G99 Touring wagon. Against the backdrop of the company's upcoming closure, this may be one of the last projects in the tuner's history.

According to sources, AC Schnitzer plans to cease all operations by the end of 2026 after 39 years in business. Rising development costs, supplier issues, and complex approval processes are cited as reasons. The company intends to sell off remaining stock by year's end and will continue to honor warranty obligations. Talks with a potential buyer are also underway, so the AC Schnitzer name might theoretically survive.

The main technical upgrade for the BMW M5 is a power boost. After tuning, the hybrid powertrain produces 810 hp and 1100 Nm when using gasoline with an octane rating of at least 98. This upgrade costs €7,990 and comes with an AC Schnitzer warranty. A stainless steel exhaust system with carbon tips is also available for €4,690.

Suspension upgrades are offered as well. Lowering springs drop the front by 20–25 mm and the rear by 10–15 mm, priced at €619. Various wheel and tire packages cost between €7,590 and €8,390, along with spacers, bolts, and branded fasteners.

The exterior package includes a front splitter, side skirts, a rear diffuser, a trunk lid spoiler for the sedan, and a roof wing for the wagon. There are also lower grille inserts, fender flares, side aero elements, and black logos. Inside, changes are minimal: aluminum pedal pads and a branded key holder.

The standard new-generation BMW M5 features a plug-in hybrid system based on a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. Factory output is 720 hp and 1000 Nm. In the US, the sedan starts at $123,300 before delivery, while the M5 Touring costs $2,000 more.
