Cadillac Returns to Egypt with the All-Electric Lyriq SUV
Cadillac returns to Egypt with the all-electric Lyriq crossover, featuring Super Cruise hands-free driving. Discover the luxury EV's Egyptian launch.
Cadillac is making a comeback in Egypt after an absence that spans several decades. The announcement came during General Motors' centennial celebrations for its Africa and Middle East operations, marking the luxury brand's return to a market where the automaker has so far operated almost exclusively through Chevrolet.
Rather than launching with a traditional gasoline-powered large SUV, Cadillac will debut with the all-electric Lyriq crossover. That's a telling move, because it immediately positions the Lyriq as a showcase for the brand's new global image. It's the same strategy Cadillac is using to reshape its perception in other major markets.
With the brand's entry, Super Cruise—GM's hands-free driver-assistance technology—will also become available in Egypt. The company confirmed that the system will be standard on all Cadillac models offered in the region. Jorge Plata, President and Managing Director of GM Africa and Middle East, encouraged customers to watch for updates, noting that Cadillac's return to Egypt will be accompanied by opportunities for people in GCC countries to get behind the wheel and experience GM's advanced automotive technologies, including what he described as the world's first such hands-free system.

The Egyptian launch is part of Cadillac's broader global expansion. The brand currently has a presence in North America, China, the Middle East, Japan, Korea, Oceania, and key European countries, and it is also preparing to enter Brazil and other South American markets.
For Egyptian buyers, this is more than just the revival of a familiar American nameplate. Cadillac is arriving with a new identity centered on electrification, advanced technology, and digital assistance. Two key questions remain: which Lyriq variants will be offered locally, and whether the pricing will align with the brand's premium aspirations.
