The new Audi RS 5 PHEV debuts in the UK with 639 hp, 82 km EV range, prices from £90,150. See saloon and Avant specs, trims, performance.

Audi has officially launched the new RS 5 in the UK, with order books now open. The saloon starts at £90,150, while the RS 5 Avant estate is priced from £92,050 (around €104,574). That's a touch higher than the numbers previously quoted by Auto Express, likely reflecting an updated pricing structure or a different calculation method.

The biggest change is under the bonnet. The new RS 5 is a plug-in hybrid, combining a 2.9-litre biturbo V6 with an electric motor and a 25.9 kWh battery. Audi's UK site claims a combined output of 639 hp. The sprint to 62 mph takes 3.6 seconds, and it can cover up to 82 km on electric power alone.

But the hybrid hardware comes at a cost. Auto Express puts kerb weight at 2,355 kg for the saloon and 2,370 kg for the Avant. For a performance car, that's significant. So the real talking point won't be outright power—it'll be how effectively Audi's chassis tuning, quattro all-wheel drive, and torque distribution system mask the extra mass. Steel brakes are standard; carbon-ceramics are a pricey option.

UK buyers can choose from three trim levels: the base RS 5, Carbon Black, and Vorsprung. Higher trims bring 21-inch alloys, carbon-fibre trim, more equipment, a sport exhaust, and a raised top speed. A fully loaded RS 5 Avant Vorsprung will set you back over £109,000 (roughly €126,440), and that's before ticking the box for carbon-ceramic brakes.
