2026 Mitsubishi Outlander Petrol Range Launched: Black Edition Returns
Mitsubishi's 2026 Outlander petrol lineup lands in Australia with the revived Black Edition, seven seats, 20-inch black alloys, and prices from AU$39,990.
Mitsubishi has introduced the petrol-powered 2026 Outlander lineup in Australia. The first units are expected at dealerships in June, but the real headline is the revival of the Black Edition. Priced below the Aspire, it brings a seven-seat cabin, 20-inch black alloys, and a more aggressive exterior look. The catch: it's front-wheel drive only.
The entry-level Outlander ES kicks off at AU$39,990. It comes as a five-seater with FWD. Opting for all-wheel drive on the ES bumps the price to AU$43,240, while a seven-seat layout is offered exclusively with front-wheel drive, starting at AU$42,540.
Stepping up, the LS seats seven and starts at AU$44,040 for front-wheel drive, or AU$46,540 with AWD. The revived Black Edition wears a price tag of AU$45,490 and comes loaded with black 20-inch wheels, black bumper highlights, darkened pillars, black mirror caps, a black grille, a dark headliner, and a cabin trimmed with Granlux material.
The Aspire grade is likewise a seven-seater, priced from AU$48,540 in front-drive form and AU$51,040 with AWD. Upgrades include 20-inch machined-face wheels, lane centering assist, traffic jam assist, and a heated steering wheel.

Sitting at the top are the Exceed AWD and Exceed Tourer AWD—both five-seat models. The Exceed starts at AU$55,890, while the Tourer commands AU$58,740. The Exceed brings stitched leather seats, ventilated front seats, memory mirrors, a frameless digital rearview mirror, and a full-size alloy spare wheel. The Tourer adds semi-aniline leather, a 12-speaker audio system, and aluminum pedal covers. Under the skin, nothing changes: every petrol-powered 2026 Outlander in Australia relies on a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated engine mated to a CVT.
Even the base ES feels well-equipped, featuring built-in navigation, an eight-speaker Yamaha sound system, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Across the range, Mitsubishi touts improved noise insulation, Australia-specific suspension and steering tuning, locally suited tires, LED exterior and interior lighting, dual 12.3-inch displays, wireless Android Auto, and voice control.
Safety is comprehensive: the 2026 Outlander packs blind-spot intervention, lane departure prevention, a surround-view camera system, rear automatic braking, driver attention monitoring, and traffic sign recognition.
In the end, the 2026 Outlander in Australia isn't an all-new generation but a smarter, better-packaged refresh. The Black Edition emerges as the most compelling choice in terms of style, but if you need all-wheel drive, you'll have to step up to at least the ES AWD, LS AWD, or Aspire AWD trims.
