Mercedes-Benz begins production of new S-Class, Maybach and EQS at Factory 56
Mercedes-Benz begins production of the new S-Class, Maybach S-Class and EQS at Factory 56. These models are built on a single flexible line with AI technology.
Mercedes‑Benz is celebrating the successful start of production for three new flagship models—the S‑Class, Mercedes‑Maybach S‑Class, and EQS—at its Sindelfingen plant in Germany.
The successful launch of three new models in the span of three months underscores the high level of qualification and productivity among workers at the Sindelfingen site, according to the Mercedes‑Benz press office.
Thanks to highly flexible production processes, all three flagship models are built on a single line at Factory 56, regardless of whether they are fully electric or feature advanced hybrid powertrains. Output can be quickly and flexibly adjusted to meet market demand.
Factory 56 represents the future of Mercedes‑Benz manufacturing. Since opening in 2020, it has set new benchmarks for the automotive industry. Instead of a conventional assembly line, the two lines here rely on automated guided vehicles (AGVs)—over 400 of them in total.
Beyond these innovative production methods, the factory also leverages artificial intelligence and the Mercedes‑Benz Operating System (MB.OS). Every assembly station is integrated into MO360, the company’s digital manufacturing ecosystem. As a result, all production data is available to every employee in real time via the MO360 data platform.
