First Look at the Dacia Sandero Hybrid During Testing
A prototype of the hybrid Dacia Sandero has been spotted on public roads. Learn about its expected powertrain, range, battery, and launch timeline.
Dacia has begun testing a hybrid version of the Sandero. A prototype was spotted on public roads, confirming preparations for a self-charging hybrid variant.
The updated third-generation Sandero received a facelift earlier but lacked electrified options until now. The company is now developing a HEV version that will compete directly with affordable hybrids like the MG3.
Based on the photos, the test car looks nearly identical to the standard model. The main changes are hidden under the skin: under the rear section, there's visible battery protection, positioned so it doesn't reduce trunk space.
The hybrid system will be borrowed from the Jogger. It includes a 1.8 TCe gasoline engine, an electric motor, and a 1.4 kWh lithium-ion battery. Total output reaches 155 hp. The car can run on electric power at low speeds and for short distances.
The official debut is expected before the end of the year, with sales starting in the first half of 2027. Against a backdrop of growing interest in fuel-efficient cars, the hybrid Sandero could strengthen Dacia's position in the affordable segment.
