2026 Chevrolet Camaro: Four-Door Design Retains Manual and Auto Transmissions
Chevrolet's new-generation Camaro for 2026 switches to a four-door body while keeping an internal combustion engine and offering a rare six-speed manual transmission alongside an automatic option.
Chevrolet is preparing a new-generation Camaro with several changes. The model will retain an internal combustion engine and offer two transmission options: manual and automatic.
According to sources, the car will feature a six-speed manual with three pedals—something increasingly rare in modern vehicles. An automatic transmission will also be available. This choice sets the model apart from other sports cars in 2026, where manuals are gradually disappearing.
The new Camaro will ride on an updated Alpha 2-2 platform with a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. The same architecture will underpin future Cadillac and Buick models.
The main change involves the bodystyle. Instead of a classic two-door coupe, the model will become a four-door and approach mid-size dimensions. However, it won't use the traditional three-box sedan silhouette. Despite the format shift, the return of a manual transmission could keep the model appealing to fans of classic setups.
