Lexus Unveils LC500h Coupe and GX Black Edition at Beijing Auto Show
Lexus showcased the LC500h hybrid coupe and the rugged GX Black Edition at the Beijing Auto Show. The GX, built on TNGA-F platform, draws crowd interest with its updated off-road capabilities.
Lexus unveiled two key models at the Beijing Auto Show: the LC500h coupe and the GX SUV in a Black Edition variant. The brand's booth immediately drew attention for its contrast—a sporty coupe and a rugged body-on-frame SUV showcasing different directions for the brand's development. A 32CARS journalist noted that interest in the GX was particularly high thanks to its fully updated platform and the model's return to global focus.

The Lexus LC500h is equipped with a hybrid setup based on a 3.5-liter V6 and an electric motor, delivering around 359 hp. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in roughly 5 seconds, with the key selling point being a blend of performance and efficiency.

The new Lexus GX is built on the TNGA-F ladder frame platform, the same as the Toyota Land Cruiser 300. Depending on the market, it gets a turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 putting out about 349 hp or alternative powertrains. The Black Edition comes with darkened trim, new wheels, and a premium off-road look.

The LC500h remains a niche image product competing with the outgoing BMW 8 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe. In contrast, the GX targets the full-size SUV segment, going up against the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, Land Rover Defender, and Jeep Grand Cherokee. Primary markets for the GX are the US and China, where demand for premium SUVs is growing, while the LC500h serves as a design and technology flagship for the brand.
