Chinese EV maker Xpeng announces flying car deliveries from 2027, with 7,000+ orders received. Also plans robotaxis and humanoid robots as it transforms into a tech company.

Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng has announced plans to start deliveries of "flying" cars as early as 2027. The move involves scaling up a project that marks a new stage in the company's expansion beyond the traditional automotive industry.

According to Xpeng’s management, the company has already received more than 7,000 orders for its flying cars, with most coming from the Chinese market. The manufacturer is currently working with aviation regulators to certify the technology.

In parallel, Xpeng is preparing for mass production. The first series vehicles are expected to roll out within the next few years, with 2027 seen as a key milestone for a market launch.

Beyond aviation, Xpeng is heavily investing in autonomous technology. In 2026, the company will begin testing robotaxis in Guangzhou, and over the following 12 to 18 months, it plans to produce hundreds to thousands of these vehicles.

A separate focus is humanoid robots, which will initially be used in service and sales roles. In the long term, Xpeng expects this business could surpass its automotive operations in scale.

Xpeng already operates in more than 60 countries and aims to significantly boost its overseas sales share. Over the next 5 to 10 years, the company targets generating over half of its revenue from outside China. It is also discussing an expanded partnership with Volkswagen, including joint development of electric vehicles and technologies.

The transformation of Xpeng from an automaker into a technology company is underway. The bets on flying cars, robotaxis, and robots underscore that the industry's future extends far beyond conventional transportation.
