Next-gen Fiat Panda to offer electric and gasoline options
Fiat confirms the new Panda will have both electric and gas engines, targeting urban and long-distance drivers. Launch expected around 2027–2028.
FIAT is preparing a new generation of the Panda, which will for the first time feature a fully electric version while retaining classic gasoline engines. The model remains strategically important for the brand and will continue to evolve in the affordable urban car segment.
FIAT management has officially confirmed that the next Panda will be multi-energy, meaning it will offer both internal combustion engine and electric powertrain versions simultaneously.
This approach is tied to different usage scenarios. In cities, electric vehicles are convenient and economical, but for long trips, many buyers still prefer traditional engines. That's why FIAT isn't abandoning gasoline, despite the overall trend toward electrification.
During Milan Design Week, the company showcased several concepts that could influence the new Panda's design. These include compact two-door models, modular vehicles, and even unusual "social" capsules. Although these projects won't go into production directly, they set a development direction focused on compactness, versatility, and urban orientation.
The new Panda generation is expected to launch in the coming years, around 2027–2028. The current Pandina version will remain on sale at least until 2029. The electric version, according to rumors, might incorporate technologies from Chinese partner Leapmotor, which could help reduce costs and make the model more accessible.
