ADAC has unveiled an updated ranking of electric cars, built on testing of roughly 90 models across different segments. The evaluation weighs overall quality against value for money. Ten newcomers join the roster, among them the BMW i4 40M, BYD Atto 2, Fiat 600e, Renault R4, and Volvo EX30 Cross Country.
The lineup spans everything from urban runabouts to executive entries, showing how quickly the electric market is filling every niche.
Microcar
Fiat 500e (42 kWh, La Prima) and Dacia Spring Electric 65 Expression.
Subcompact
Mini Aceman SE, Mini Cooper E, Renault R4 Electric 150 CR (52 kWh), and Renault R5 E-Tech Electric 150 (52 kWh).
Compact
Skoda Elroq 85, Kia EV3 Earth (58.3 kWh), BMW iX1 xDrive30, and VW ID.3 GTX.
Midsize
Skoda Enyaq 85x Sportline, Hyundai Ioniq 6 2WD (77.4 kWh), BMW iX3, and BMW i4 xDrive40 M Sport.
Upper midsize and luxury
VW ID.7 Pro, VW ID.7 Tourer GTX 4Motion, Audi Q6 e-tron Performance, and Audi A6 Avant e-tron Performance.
The mix of seasoned names and fresh entries reads like a snapshot of where the segment stands today: practical choices up front, design-led variants in the middle, and high-comfort long-haulers at the top. With ADAC continuing to balance capabilities against cost, the emphasis clearly remains on real-world usefulness rather than spec-sheet theatrics.
