Mercedes-AMG GT Track Sport prototype tested for future GT Black Series
Mercedes-AMG tests a new extreme coupe prototype at Nürburgring, featuring aggressive aerodynamics and a flat-plane crank V8 for the future GT Black Series and GT3 racing version.
Mercedes-AMG continues testing a new extreme coupe that will serve as the foundation for the future GT Black Series and the GT3 racing version. The prototype was spotted on the Nürburgring track undergoing dynamic tests.
Known as the Concept AMG GT Track Sport, this model features aggressive aerodynamics. Key elements include larger dimensions, a massive rear wing, a redesigned rear section, a substantial diffuser, and the absence of a rear window—replaced by a panel to enhance downforce. The car also sports side-exit exhaust pipes and a modified front splitter.
According to preliminary information, the vehicle is equipped with a new flat-plane crank V8. This powertrain is expected to be used in other future AMG models as well.
The prototype retains the overall shape and lighting of the production AMG GT but incorporates more radical, track-focused solutions. Development is proceeding in parallel with the racing program, underscoring its high-performance pedigree.
The upcoming Black Series will be a homologation model emphasizing maximum dynamics. In the context of sports car development for 2026, such projects highlight a shift in focus toward track-oriented technology and aerodynamics.
