2026 Ford Explorer with Raptor engine for top performance

Ford has updated the 2026 Explorer with a focus on power and performance. The model now features an engine from the Raptor lineup, making it one of the fastest three-row SUVs in its segment.

The base version of this flagship SUV comes with a 2.3-liter turbocharged engine producing 300 horsepower. However, the real highlight is the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, borrowed from the Bronco Raptor, which delivers 400 horsepower and 415 Nm of torque. With this engine, the Explorer accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in about 5.2 seconds, outpacing most of its rivals.

The V6 is available in ST and Tremor variants. The ST emphasizes dynamic handling, while the Tremor focuses on off-road capability. The Tremor features increased ground clearance, underbody protection, and all-terrain tires. It also offers an Ultimate package with premium amenities, including a Bang & Olufsen audio system, a panoramic sunroof, and the BlueCruise driver-assist technology.

In practice, this means the 2026 Explorer significantly outperforms competitors in terms of power. For instance, the Kia Telluride takes nearly 7.8 seconds to reach 100 km/h, while the Mazda CX-90 and Toyota Grand Highlander fall short in engine output.

Despite its performance edge, the model maintains a relatively accessible price for its class, starting at around $48,000.
