Nissan Kicks Rock Creek off-road prototype revealed in testing
Spy shots show a camouflaged Nissan Kicks prototype with off-road features, hinting at a new Rock Creek version for the compact crossover.
Nissan is preparing a new version of its compact Kicks crossover, which may receive the Rock Creek off-road treatment. This is suggested by spy shots of a camouflaged prototype spotted during testing in the United States.
The Nissan Kicks prototype was seen in Tennessee with distinctive elements, including a roof rack and partially concealed body panels. Camouflage on the grille and rear section hints at a revised design that would differentiate the Rock Creek version from the standard model.
The front end drew particular attention: the prototype shows additional elements in the upper part of the grille that are absent on the regular Kicks. This is a typical approach by Nissan for off-road versions of its crossovers.
The Rock Creek lineup is already used on the Rogue (X-Trail) and Pathfinder models, where it implies off-road styling, increased ground clearance, and additional accessories. Unlike the more serious Pro-4X series, such versions focus on appearance and light off-road capability.
The Kicks Rock Creek is expected to slot in just below the top-tier SR Premium trim, offering an affordable alternative for buyers who want a more aggressive design without a significant price increase.
The introduction of this new version fits into Nissan's strategy to regain ground in the U.S. market. The company has already announced updates to key models, including the Rogue and Juke, as well as the possible return of the Xterra and Skyline. In this context, expanding the Kicks lineup with special editions helps maintain interest in the model until new generations arrive.
