Peugeot hybrid power figures updated under new Euro 7 rules

Stellantis adapts Peugeot 3008, 5008, and 408 PHEV models to Euro 7 standards with revised power calculations, offering more transparent hybrid specifications.

Stellantis has begun adapting Peugeot's hybrid models to meet Euro 7 standards by changing how PHEV power is calculated. This affects the 3008, 5008, and 408, where official figures have been updated without any mechanical changes.

The company has implemented a new GTR21 protocol that regulates the calculation of combined power for hybrid systems. Now, the figures reflect real-world operating conditions rather than the theoretical sum of internal combustion engine and electric motor power.

As a result of this update, the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 PHEV now officially produce 166 kW or 225 hp. The 408 model received a rating of 177 kW and a new designation: 408 Hybrid 240. The powertrains themselves remain unchanged. This difference exists because hybrids cannot always deliver maximum power from both motors simultaneously due to battery limitations, temperature constraints, and energy management systems.

Euro 7 emphasizes not only emissions but also transparency of data for consumers. This is particularly important in the hybrid segment, where previous figures could be misleading when comparing models.

Stellantis has effectively become the first to adapt to these new rules, making hybrid specifications more honest. For the market, this signals that in coming years, specification numbers will appear more modest but closer to reality.
