New Nissan GT-R R36 to feature hybrid technology, not full EV

Nissan has officially confirmed the development of a new generation of its iconic GT-R sports car, known as the R36. The manufacturer made clear from the start that a fully electric version is not in the cards.

According to company leadership, current battery technology cannot yet deliver an electric sports car that aligns with the GT-R's philosophy. This is why the brand has abandoned the idea of a fully electric model. However, complete avoidance of electrification is not possible. Due to tightening environmental regulations, the new GT-R will incorporate a hybrid component.

The previous R35 generation remained on the market for nearly two decades, ending production in 2025, and fans are now awaiting a worthy successor.
