LoJack's AI Theft Detection system for vehicle security
LoJack's AI Theft Detection uses real-time algorithms to prevent vehicle theft, especially for fleets, by analyzing behavior and sending alerts to a 24/7 center.
LoJack has unveiled its AI Theft Detection system, designed to prevent vehicle theft, particularly for corporate fleets. The platform employs artificial intelligence algorithms to analyze vehicle behavior and identify suspicious activity in real time.
According to company data, approximately 64% of thefts occur at night—between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM—with over 70% of owners only discovering the loss in the morning. The new system focuses on this nighttime window while also analyzing data from the previous 48 hours.
The AI monitors three key risk indicators: an attempt to move a vehicle with its engine off (such as loading it onto a tow truck), disconnecting the battery, and the vehicle being located in high-risk zones like ports or border areas.
When an anomaly is detected, the system generates an alert and sends it to LoJack's 24/7 monitoring center. An operator then contacts the driver or owner, and if theft is confirmed, initiates a search procedure involving law enforcement.
This development represents a shift in security philosophy: rather than reacting to a crime already committed, it adopts a preventive model. Such technologies are becoming relevant not only for private owners but also for the small business vehicle segment, where transport downtime directly impacts company costs and operations.
