Toyota Corolla Cross 2028: new hybrid tech and features
Toyota plans a new Corolla Cross for 2028, featuring full hybrid powertrains, updated TNGA-C platform, and advanced Arene software. Learn about specs and design.
Toyota is preparing a new generation of the Corolla Cross crossover, which could debut in 2028. According to preliminary data, the model will become fully hybrid and receive an updated technical base.
The car will retain the TNGA-C platform with refinements. Front-wheel drive will remain standard, with all-wheel drive available as an option. The main change will involve the powertrain: a new 1.5-liter engine is expected, paired with a sixth-generation hybrid system. The manufacturer aims to boost efficiency through new batteries and semiconductors.
A GR Sport version with a plug-in hybrid setup producing around 200 horsepower is also under discussion. It may feature an upgraded suspension with double wishbones at the rear.
Inside, the cabin is anticipated to include the new Arene software platform, a larger multimedia screen up to 12.9 inches, and a digital instrument cluster around 12.3 inches. The model's dimensions could slightly increase, enhancing interior space. Based on preliminary information, the design will draw inspiration from the new RAV4, adopting a more angular look.
