Ford F-150 Lightning recall due to charging port overheating issue
Australian Ford F-150 Lightning owners face a recall over a charging port defect that can overheat during fast charging, affecting 146 vehicles. Learn about the risks and repair options.
Australian owners of the Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup are facing challenges following a vehicle recall. The issue centers on a charging port defect that can overheat during fast charging.
The recall affects 146 vehicles. The problem stems from increased resistance in the CCS system, which can cause contact overheating and a burn risk. Authorities have recommended temporarily avoiding DC fast charging.
The situation has been complicated by the bankruptcy of AusEV and its parent company BossCap, which handled the vehicle supply and conversion. Repairs were initially planned to be free through the dealer network.
Owners are now being directed to contact independent company Performax International. However, since this company was not involved in the original supply or modification of the vehicles, repairs may come at a cost.
