Hyundai IONIQ 3 electric vehicle specs, price and features

Hyundai is entering one of the most competitive market segments—compact electric vehicles—with its new IONIQ 3 model. Despite the delayed launch, the Korean brand is betting on a combination of price, design, and range. This newcomer will effectively serve as the electric successor to the Hyundai i30, but with a much bolder design.

The exterior draws inspiration from the THREE concept and nods to the Veloster, featuring a raked windshield, a 'floating' roof, and short overhangs that create a dynamic profile. At the same time, the format has become more practical, with five doors and increased ground clearance hinting at a crossover philosophy.

Inside, the cabin is expected to feature a modern architecture with a digital instrument cluster and a large PLEOS multimedia display. Hyundai is emphasizing technology and convenience, which should address previous ergonomic criticisms.

Technically, the IONIQ 3 will offer a single electric motor with around 204 horsepower and two battery options. The base LFP battery with 58.3 kWh will provide up to 480 km of range, while the larger 81.4 kWh unit will deliver nearly 600 km, placing the model among the top contenders in its segment.

A sporty N version is also planned for the future. Production will be set up in Turkey, with sales slated to begin in 2026. With a starting price of around 30,000 euros, the IONIQ 3 will directly compete with the Volkswagen ID.3 and KIA EV3, offering a more attractive balance of price and features.

Hyundai may have arrived late to the party, but its strategy appears sound: an affordable price tag combined with a range of about 600 km is exactly what mainstream buyers are looking for today. If quality holds up, the IONIQ 3 could become one of the market's standout hits.
