Great Wall Motors launches ORA 5 crossover in Europe, competing with MINI and Toyota C-HR. Features electric and hybrid powertrains, advanced tech, and affordable pricing.

Chinese automaker Great Wall Motors is preparing to launch its new ORA 5 crossover on the European market. The model will arrive in the second half of the year, positioning itself as a serious competitor to popular vehicles like the MINI, Toyota C-HR, and Volkswagen T-Roc.

The newcomer stands out with a vibrant 'chic' design, a spacious cabin, and a high level of standard equipment. At 4471 mm long, the car is well-suited for city driving while remaining practical for family use. Two powertrain options will be available to buyers.

The base version is a fully electric model with 204 horsepower and a range of around 430 km. For the European market, the more interesting option could be the hybrid variant. It combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of up to 223 horsepower.

ORA 5 is making a clear bet on features. Even the base model is expected to come with modern driver-assistance systems, adaptive cruise control, a panoramic roof, multimedia support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and advanced comfort functions. Against the backdrop of growing competition from Chinese brands in Europe, this model could become one of the most affordable vehicles in its segment while offering premium-level equipment. Precise pricing has not been announced yet, but it is expected to undercut rivals with comparable specifications.

The ORA 5 is another signal to European brands: competition is intensifying not just on price, but also on design and technology. If GWM gets its pricing strategy right, the model could significantly shift the balance of power in the compact crossover class.
