BMW has lowered prices for the iX1 and iX2 electric crossovers by up to $8,900 after a technical update, reflecting increased competition in the EV market.

BMW has announced price cuts for its iX1 and iX2 electric crossovers shortly after a technical update. The iX1 xDrive30 now starts at $77,900—a reduction of $8,900—while the iX2 xDrive30 begins at $79,900, down $7,700. This move is linked to increasing competition in the electric vehicle market.

Price Reduction After Update

The price adjustment comes just weeks after the models were updated. At the same time, BMW introduced a Sport Collection version of the iX1 priced from $79,900, which is about $5,000 cheaper than a comparable previous trim.

Both models are already available for order.

Tech and Features: All-Wheel Drive and New Electronics

Both crossovers feature dual electric motors delivering a combined 230 kW of power and 494 Nm of torque. A 66.5 kWh battery provides a WLTP range of up to 514 km for the iX1 and 512 km for the iX2.

The update brought silicon carbide inverters, improving efficiency and performance.

Competitive Pressure

The price cuts highlight growing competition in the compact electric crossover segment. Manufacturers are being forced to adjust pricing to maintain demand.

The situation with the iX1 and iX2 reflects a shift in the EV market: even premium brands are now competing aggressively on price. This increases pressure across the segment and makes electric vehicles more accessible to buyers.
