Changan Deepal S05 PHEV: new hybrid model for Europe
Changan launches the Deepal S05 PHEV in Europe with a 258-hp hybrid system, 100 km electric range, and 1,000 km total range. Learn specs and release details.
Chinese automaker Changan is preparing to launch a new PHEV version of its Deepal S05 crossover in Europe. This model will become the third in the Deepal lineup, joining the already available electric S05 and S07 versions.
The new variant features an Ultra Hybrid system. This combines a 1.5-liter gasoline engine producing 79 horsepower with an electric motor rated at 234 horsepower, for a combined system output of 258 horsepower. The powertrain can operate in both series and parallel modes.
A battery with a capacity of 18.4 kWh provides an electric-only range of approximately 100 kilometers. This setup contributes to a total vehicle range of up to 1,000 kilometers. The car supports DC fast charging at up to 55 kW, allowing a charge from 30% to 80% in 15 minutes. A V2L function is also available.
In practice, the addition of the internal combustion engine means the loss of the front trunk. However, the main cargo volume has been increased to 552 liters. The model's launch on the European market is expected in May. The introduction of this hybrid version is intended to strengthen the brand's position, as it is already showing sales growth in Europe. Deepal is focusing on new 2026 models with high range and competitive pricing to solidify its standing among Chinese manufacturers.
