GM halts sales of Chevrolet Corvette C8 models over brake light issue A. Krivonosov

General Motors halts sales of Chevrolet Corvette C8 models due to a brake light system issue affecting over 3,000 vehicles. Software update to fix problem.

General Motors has issued a directive to halt sales of certain Chevrolet Corvette C8 models due to a potential issue with the rear brake lights. The directive affects 2,886 vehicles from the 2026 model year and 438 from 2025, totaling 3,324 cars at risk.

In response, General Motors has paused sales of all affected Corvettes currently at dealer lots. This means retailers are prohibited from selling or transferring these vehicles until the issue is resolved. Importantly, the problem isn't with the brake lights themselves, but with the system that detects potential failures and alerts the driver.

General Motors confirmed that fixing the issue will require updating the relevant system software, with no need for hardware replacement or physical repairs. The software update will be delivered over the air.
