Fiat Pandina: Affordable electric city car launching in 2026
Discover the Fiat Pandina, an affordable electric city car launching in 2026 with a price under €15,000. Learn about its hybrid and EV versions, design, and market impact.
Fiat is preparing a dramatic return to the affordable city car segment. The new Pandina, set to be unveiled in Paris in 2026, will be one of the cheapest electrified models, with a starting price announced below €15,000.
The model will hit the market in 2027–2028 and will be available in two versions from the start: hybrid and fully electric. This allows the brand to address two key trends simultaneously: budget-friendly vehicles and the mass shift toward eco-friendly transport.
Technically, the Pandina is being developed under the Stellantis strategy—it will share a platform with the upcoming Citroën C1. This approach will reduce production costs and help keep the price at a minimum level, which is critical amid pressure from Chinese manufacturers. Design will be a standout feature.
Fiat is betting on the styling of the Grande Panda—simple, rugged, and recognizable. This is a smart move: in Europe, emotional attachment to classic models remains strong, and the brand clearly aims to capitalize on that. Production will be set up in Italy, at the plant in Pomigliano d'Arco. This is not just a symbolic step but also a way to strengthen the brand's position in Europe, where local manufacturing is becoming an increasingly important factor.
The main question is whether the Pandina can truly become a mass-market electric vehicle. If Fiat keeps the price low and doesn't skimp on technology, the model has every chance of becoming one of the most in-demand city cars in the coming years.
The Pandina represents a rare case where the focus isn't on technology for technology's sake, but on accessibility. And if Fiat gets the balance between price and features right, it's precisely such models that could rescue the European mass-market segment.
