Ford Capri could debut in US as a die-cast collectible model

Ford might bring the Capri to North America as a miniature collectible, not a full car, to gauge interest. The electric crossover is currently Europe-only.

Ford might unexpectedly bring the Capri model to the North American market, but this wouldn't be a full-fledged car. The company has registered a patent for a die-cast (collectible) Capri model, hinting at a possible miniature version of the crossover appearing in the US.

Interestingly, the electric Ford Capri itself is currently only available in Europe. Despite this, interest in the model remains high across the ocean, and the trademark registration could be a way to gauge demand for the Capri name among the American audience.

The modern Capri is no longer a classic coupe but an electric crossover with around 190 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. It has received several updates, including the Pro Power Onboard feature and special editions inspired by the model's racing history. However, a full-scale launch of the vehicle in the US is not currently planned. In this context, releasing a scale model looks more like a marketing move aimed at collectors and brand fans.

Ford is already actively developing its line of miniature replicas—the company has previously registered similar projects for the F-150, Explorer, and Lincoln Navigator. This indicates that automakers are increasingly working not just with cars, but also with brand image.

Overall, the situation around the Capri shows that even without an official model launch in a market, a brand can maintain interest through unconventional solutions. If demand for the Capri in the US proves high even at the souvenir level, it could become a first step toward a full-fledged market entry for the model.
