China’s Ministry of Industry has revealed a new version of the Xpeng G6 crossover, the EREV, fitted with an extended-range powertrain. It targets drivers who aren’t ready to go fully electric but want to trim their dependence on gasoline.

Built on the standard G6, it preserves the same dimensions and sleek look. A 55.8‑kWh battery delivers up to 325 km on the CLTC cycle (about 290 km WLTP). When the pack is depleted, a 110‑kW gasoline engine works as a generator, feeding a 218‑kW rear electric motor (296 hp).

Visually, the G6 EREV stays current: smooth surfaces, slim LED lighting, flush door handles, and a fastback-style roofline. A full-width light bar spans the rear, emphasizing the car’s aero-friendly stance—cohesive and clean without trying too hard.

The model joins the Kunpeng Super Electric System, Xpeng’s strategy for extended-range EVs. Early figures suggest a combined driving range exceeding 1,400 km, with pricing expected to mirror the G6 Long Range version (up to 46,000 euros).

Overall, the Xpeng G6 EREV comes across as a sensible bridge for those wary of EV range limits. If the pricing lands right, this SUV looks poised to become a strong contender in the Chinese market.
