BMW hands over the first iX3 electric crossover at its Debrecen plant, accelerating production for 2026 models and planning expansions.

BMW has handed over one of the first production iX3 electric crossovers directly to a customer at its plant in Debrecen, Hungary. The ceremonial delivery took place at the facility, which has been exclusively manufacturing the model since late 2025. The buyer received an iX3 50 xDrive in Sapphire Black, equipped with the M Sport package and 22-inch aerodynamic wheels. This vehicle also features a new M-design steering wheel, which will appear on future BMW models as well.

Strong demand for the new 2026 models has prompted an accelerated production ramp-up, with a second shift introduced ahead of schedule. At full capacity, the plant can produce up to 150,000 vehicles per year.

Currently, only the 50 xDrive version is assembled at the site, but the lineup is expected to expand soon. More affordable variants are planned, along with M Performance sport versions and a full-fledged, quad-motor X3 M by 2027.

Looking ahead, BMW intends to broaden iX3 production further. Assembly is set to begin in Mexico in 2027, while an extended version is being prepared for the Chinese market. Additionally, another electric vehicle could launch at the Debrecen plant before the end of this year.
