Mansory brings its limited Gronos Mercedes-AMG G 63 to the U.S. with 808 hp, rear-hinged coach doors, wide-body kit and hand-built; only seven will be made.
The famed Mansory atelier has set its sights on the U.S. with a new Mercedes-AMG G 63 build dubbed Gronos. This isn’t just another tweaked G-Wagen but a series limited to seven units, one of which has already arrived stateside. Dressed in a vivid lime-green satin finish, it looks as if it stepped off the page of a superhero comic — a tone that heightens the G’s squared-off drama and suits its theatrical presence.
The standout flourish is the rear doors hinged at the back, opening against the wind in coach-door fashion reminiscent of Rolls-Royce. The body wears a wide kit, a new vented hood, a reworked bumper with additional DRLs, and a substantial diffuser. Up top sit a roof spoiler and a bank of spotlights, while the tail gains extra lamps and the brand’s signature spare-wheel carrier. The result feels intentionally unapologetic — more statement piece than subtle makeover.
Under the hood sits an uprated 4.0-liter V8 biturbo delivering 808 hp and 1,150 Nm of torque. The sprint to 100 km/h takes just 4.0 seconds, half a second quicker than a standard G 63. Mansory notes that each Gronos is assembled by hand and that the price is very high. In return, the buyer gets more than an SUV — essentially rolling tuning art designed to draw a crowd even at a standstill.
