Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan testing in Europe with 800V architecture
Xiaomi is testing the SU7 electric sedan in Europe, featuring an 800-volt architecture for fast charging and advanced driver-assistance systems. Launch may come earlier than 2027.
Xiaomi is making a confident move toward entering the European market. Prototypes of its electric sedan, the SU7, have already been spotted in several countries, including the Netherlands, France, and Poland. This signals the project is moving into an active phase of preparation for launch.
Several cars with different license plates have been recorded on European roads. Two examples with German plates were notably seen in Amsterdam. Such testing is traditionally conducted before a model is certified for the EU market.
The updated Xiaomi SU7 has received a significant technical upgrade: all versions now feature an 800-volt architecture. This provides higher efficiency and support for ultra-fast charging, which was previously only available in top-tier configurations. Special attention is being paid to adapting driver-assistance systems.
The test vehicles are equipped with data-gathering hardware, indicating the calibration of the Hyper Autonomous Driving system for European conditions. The system is capable of handling journeys from parking spot to parking spot with minimal driver input. On its home market, the model has already proven popular: Xiaomi gathered over 100,000 pre-orders in a short time, and the updated version received 15,000 orders in just half an hour.
Given the current activity, the European launch timeline could shift from the initially planned 2027 to an earlier date. For buyers deciding which car to purchase, this means increased competition in the electric sedan segment, where Chinese brands continue to put pressure on European manufacturers. Xiaomi is acting with maximum aggression and technological focus.
The widespread adoption of the 800V architecture is a strong move that could change the rules of the game in this segment. If the company maintains a balance of price and technology, the SU7 could become one of the major breakthroughs in the European electric vehicle market.
