Cupra has unveiled the updated version of its electric hatchback, the Born. Built on the same platform as the Volkswagen ID.3, the model has undergone a significant redesign, with a refreshed interior and an expanded powertrain lineup.

The updated Born lineup now includes three main versions. The base model delivers 187 horsepower and is equipped with a 58 kWh battery, offering a range of around 450 km. The mid-range version boasts 228 horsepower and an increased 79 kWh battery, pushing the range to approximately 600 km (373 miles).

The flagship Cupra Born VZ produces up to 322 horsepower and also uses a 79 kWh battery. Despite the power boost, performance remains on par with the previous version: acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes about 5.6 seconds, with a top speed of 200 km/h.

All versions of the car retain rear-wheel drive. Maximum charging power reaches up to 135 kW for the base model and up to 185 kW for the more powerful variants.

The VZ version features a range of sporty enhancements. These include bucket seats, an adaptive DCC suspension with 15 adjustment modes, wider 235 mm tires, a sport mode for the stability system, and steering wheel paddles for adjusting regeneration.

The interior has also been thoroughly updated. The hatchback now comes with a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch multimedia system based on Android. In a practical move, the manufacturer has ditched the touch-sensitive buttons on the steering wheel in favor of physical controls.

Production of the updated Cupra Born is set to begin in the second quarter of 2026. The base version is expected to start at around £30,000, while the top-end VZ model could approach the £45,000 mark.
