Next-gen Honda Civic: 2027 model with hybrid updates
Discover the 2027 Honda Civic: lighter, more efficient hybrid, and advanced tech like S+ Shift. Learn about its new platform and performance.
Honda is preparing a new generation of its popular Civic sedan, set to hit the market in 2027. The company has already revealed initial technical details for the upcoming model, which will be lighter, more technologically advanced, and feature an updated hybrid powertrain.
The next Civic will be built on a modernized platform. Thanks to this new architecture, the car will shed approximately 90 kg in weight while increasing body rigidity. This improvement should enhance handling and boost on-road stability.
Engineers are also updating the chassis control system. The Civic will gain a new Motion Management System complex and an improved version of the Agile Handling Assist system. These technologies will help the vehicle maintain its line better through corners and reduce body roll.
The primary powertrain will be a new version of Honda's e:HEV hybrid system. It combines a 2-liter gasoline engine with two electric motors. The manufacturer expects to boost fuel efficiency by around 30 percent while also improving performance.
Another standout feature will be the Honda S+ Shift system. It simulates gear shifts through software-controlled torque and sound, creating the feel of a traditional transmission.
The debut of the new-generation Honda Civic is anticipated in late 2026 or early 2027. The model will continue to compete in the compact car segment against rivals like the Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra, and Kia K4.
