Scout Motors reveals sound concept with classic SUV and nature sounds
Scout Motors unveils its sound concept for Traveler and Terra models, using classic Scout SUV recordings, nature sounds, and acoustic instruments for a unique audio experience.
Scout Motors has unveiled the details of its sound concept for the upcoming Traveler and Terra models. To create a distinct audio identity, developers used recordings of the classic Scout SUV, along with sounds from nature and acoustic instruments.
The custom audio experience system is called Community UX and includes over 70 different sounds inside the vehicle. These are divided into several categories: safety signals, everyday notifications, and elements that shape the brand's character.

According to the company's press release, the first category, Icon Preserved, is based on recordings of the original International Harvester Scout. In a special acoustic chamber, engineers captured the turn signal clicks, button sounds, and even the engine noise.
The second part of the sound concept, Connection to the Land, was created using field recordings made on a farm in Kentucky. The third direction, Humble American, features acoustic guitar parts recorded in a Nashville studio. To create a reverb effect, a metal grain silo was used.

All recordings were processed on analog equipment at the House of David studio. Scout Motors representatives say this concept aims to make interacting with the vehicle more memorable and safer. The new Traveler and Terra models will be the first from the brand to feature this sound system.
