Engineer Tim Oldland designs a 3D-printed cup holder for the Alpine A290 electric hot hatch, addressing the missing cup holder problem for better daily convenience.

The electric hot hatch Alpine A290 has an unusual solution to one of the most discussed interior issues. Owners of the model noticed the car lacks a cup holder, making trips with drinks more difficult.

Engineer and Bespoke Chargers founder Tim Oldland proposed a simple fix: a 3D-printed cup holder. The design attaches to the side of the center console and secures drinks with flexible internal elements. According to the developer, the accessory fits coffee cups, thermoses, and bottles.

This idea emerged after he used the Alpine A290 for some time and encountered the same problem. Unlike the A290, the Renault 5, on whose platform the hatchback is based, has two cup holders in the central area. Universal holders that attach to air vents or in the center compartment exist, but such solutions can block airflow or take up useful space. After installing the 3D-printed holder, the car became more convenient for daily drives.
