New Tremec six-speed manual fits mid-engine builds and the Corvette C8. Rated 1080 Nm/1,000 hp, with LSD and cable-operated shift for precise, engaging driving.
Tremec has unveiled a new six-speed manual transmission that could suit the Chevrolet Corvette C8. The model, considered one of the best sports cars of 2025, comes standard with an eight-speed automatic. Yet this newcomer hints at a return to that classic, engaging feel many drivers still crave from the iconic coupe.
The manual is derived from the TR-9080 DCT used in the Corvette and keeps the same mounting points and overall dimensions. Designed for mid-engine applications, it is rated for up to 1080 Nm of torque and as much as 1,000 hp. An aluminum-alloy housing balances strength with relatively low weight, while cable-operated shifting is set up for precise gear selection.
The transmission features a mechanical limited-slip differential and is intended to pair with a twin-disc clutch. While installing Tremec’s manual in the Corvette is unlikely for now, it could well become a popular choice for tuning projects built around a centrally mounted engine—an idea that is bound to resonate with those who miss the tactile rhythm of a proper stick shift.
