Renault is strengthening its position in Europe's C-segment crossover market with the launch of the updated 2026 Austral. Built at the Palencia plant and having already sold over 200,000 units, this model has been upgraded to boost its tech features and equipment. The manufacturer's clear goal is to enhance the appeal of one of its key vehicles.

The 2026 lineup now includes three versions: Evolution, Techno, and Esprit Alpine. Even the base level comes with LED lighting, a digital dashboard, a nine-inch multimedia screen, adaptive cruise control, and a wide range of safety aids, such as lane-keeping, traffic sign recognition, and driver fatigue monitoring. The Techno package adds larger 12-inch multimedia screens, wireless charging, and enhanced lane-change assistance. The signature Esprit Alpine brings more premium touches, including 20-inch wheels, sporty trim, heated and power-adjustable seats, and a larger digital panel.

The engine range remains fully electrified. The entry point is a 1.3-liter petrol turbo engine with MHEV technology, delivering 150 horsepower and paired with an automatic transmission. Above it sits the full-hybrid E-Tech system, based on a 1.2-liter engine working with two electric motors for a combined 200 horsepower. Both options feature front-wheel drive and carry the ECO label, which offers benefits for driving in Spanish cities.

Prices start at 34,235 euros for the Evolution version with mild hybrid and go up to 42,954 euros for the Esprit Alpine with the Full Hybrid system. The new equipment, updated interfaces, and focus on high efficiency make the 2026 Austral more competitive in this crucial segment for Renault.
