Nissan Leaf 2026 named Supreme Winner by WWCOTY
The 2026 electric Nissan Leaf earns the top award from Women's Worldwide Car of the Year, praised for affordability, comfort, and practicality.
The 2026 electric Nissan Leaf has earned the top award from Women's Worldwide Car of the Year, securing the Supreme Winner title. The announcement came just before International Women's Day, marking the end of the final voting round among 86 female automotive journalists from 55 countries.
To qualify, a model must be new or substantially updated and available for sale on at least two continents. In this cycle, the jury evaluated 55 vehicles across six categories. The Leaf first won the compact model segment, then outperformed the Skoda Elroq, Mercedes-Benz CLA, Hyundai Ioniq 9, Toyota 4Runner, and Lamborghini Temerario in the final round.

WWCOTY President Marta Garcia noted that the voting was extremely close, with most contenders demonstrating high quality. However, the Leaf stood out for its combination of affordability, comfort, and ease of use. The jury emphasized that this electric hatchback focuses on real-world daily needs, while its updated architecture enhances cabin space and practicality.
Founded in 2009, WWCOTY was established not to select "women's cars" but to provide professional industry assessments that incorporate the female perspective in automotive journalism. Evaluations consider dynamics, comfort, functionality, efficiency, and value for buyers.
The second-generation Leaf continues to strengthen its global market position. With its refreshed design, expanded features, and improved efficiency, the model has emerged as a convincing winner in one of the world's largest international automotive competitions.
