A video of road tests for a new Xiaomi vehicle has surfaced online. The footage appears to show a prototype of a large crossover, codenamed "Kunlun," which may hit the market as the Xiaomi YU9. The test car in the video already features production-ready lighting, with visible operation of the taillights and brake lights. This typically indicates a model is in the later stages of development.

Based on earlier spy photos, this new crossover is expected to retain Xiaomi's signature design language. Distinctive elements include teardrop-shaped side mirrors and vertical taillights. The SUV is also rumored to feature an unusual dual-door trunk design. Preliminary information suggests the vehicle could be over 5.2 meters long and about 1.8 meters tall. These dimensions place it in the large D-segment, positioning it to compete with other big family crossovers.

Xiaomi representatives have previously confirmed active development of new models. According to a Deutsche Bank analyst report, the company plans to launch a large hybrid SUV in 2026. The brand is also reported to be planning a significant expansion of its vehicle lineup in the coming years.

Beyond an updated version of the SU7 sedan and its executive variant, the company could introduce several new crossovers, including both five-seat and seven-seat configurations. The launch of a large SUV would mark an important strategic move for Xiaomi in the automotive market. Following the successful debut of the SU7 sedan, the company is aiming to strengthen its position in the more popular crossover segment.
