Learn about the Volkswagen ID. Polo, an electric hatchback with up to 450 km range, multiple powertrain options, and a 2026 European release. Get the latest details.
Volkswagen is preparing to debut the new electric hatchback ID. Polo. This model will be the brand's first electric vehicle to carry a classic name from its existing lineup. In terms of size, the newcomer will be smaller than the Golf while retaining a traditional body shape.
During testing, prototypes have already been spotted with various wheel designs. One of these was previously covered by the website 32CARS.
This particular variant features unusual 19-inch wheels with a black-and-red design and decorative triangular elements. These versions are likely part of the sporty R-Line trim.
The electric ID. Polo will be offered with several powertrain options. The base version will get a 37 kWh battery and a motor producing either 114 or 133 horsepower. A longer-range modification comes equipped with a 52 kWh battery and an electric motor rated at 208 horsepower. The sporty GTI version will develop up to 223 horsepower. The most efficient version could achieve a maximum range of around 450 km on the WLTP cycle.
The model's interior will blend large screens with physical control buttons. Digital instruments with a retro-style display option are also planned.
This new arrival will be part of the brand's expanding electric vehicle lineup and is set to be among the new cars for 2026. However, the model is primarily aimed at the European market, and its chances of appearing in the US currently remain low.
