Volvo modifies XC60 T6 and T8 hybrid engines for Euro 7 compliance, reducing emissions and fuel consumption while adjusting power outputs. Learn about the changes and pricing.

Volvo has updated the hybrid versions of its XC60 crossover to prepare the model for the Euro 7 environmental standard, which takes effect in November 2026. The company modified the powertrains of the T6 and T8 plug-in hybrid variants to achieve this.

The gasoline four-cylinder engine now operates on a more efficient Miller cycle. This change reduces fuel consumption and emissions, though it also lowers the engine's output. In the XC60 T6 AWD Plug-in Hybrid, the gasoline engine now produces 179 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque, down from the previous 243 hp and 350 Nm. Conversely, the electric motor has become more powerful, with output increasing from 145 hp to 156 hp. The combined system power is 335 hp, which is 15 hp less than before.

In the more powerful T8 version, total output has dropped from 455 hp to 406 hp. Fuel consumption has improved as a result. For the T6, it now ranges from 2.7 to 3.5 liters per 100 km, compared to the previous 2.8 to 3.8 liters. The T8 now has similar figures, having previously consumed 2.9 to 3.8 liters of fuel.

Exterior changes to the model are minimal. Ice White Solid has become the base body color, and a new Metal Mesh aluminum interior trim has been added to the options list.

Pricing for the 2027 model year Volvo XC60 remains unchanged. The T6 version starts at around €61,995, while the more powerful T8 begins at approximately €73,995. The model continues to be a prominent player in the premium SUV segment, where automakers are gradually adapting their engines to meet stricter environmental regulations.
