Gordon Murray Automotive announces production approval for the T.50s Niki Lauda hypercar, with 25 units sold, 761 hp V12 engine, and track-focused aerodynamics.

Gordon Murray Automotive has announced final approval for production of the track-focused T.50s Niki Lauda hypercar, following successful testing at Bahrain International Circuit. Project developer and test driver Dario Franchitti set a lap time of 1:53.03, beating the previous GT3 record set in 2001 by seven seconds. The automotive journal SPEEDME.RU reported this on March 5.

The model is named after three-time Formula 1 champion Niki Lauda. Production will be limited to 25 units, all of which have already been sold. Manufacturing is scheduled to conclude by mid-2026.

Based on the road-going T.50, the T.50s features completely redesigned aerodynamics. With a weight of 890 kg, the car is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.9-liter Cosworth V12 producing 761 horsepower at 11,500 rpm, achieving a specific output of 195 horsepower per liter. Power is delivered through a six-speed Xtrac transmission with paddle shifters.

The aerodynamic package generates up to 1,200 kg of downforce—more than the car's own weight. The braking system uses Brembo carbon-ceramic discs. During testing, the car reached a top speed of 269 km/h and experienced lateral forces of 2.7 g.

Each unit costs £3.1 million before taxes, including race preparation and technical support.

This project reflects GMA's strategy of creating ultra-limited track cars. Unlike hybrid hypercars, the T.50s focuses on a naturally aspirated engine and minimal weight, offering an alternative philosophy in the high-tech track car segment.
